In this topic you can let the picture-admin know if a vesselname is incorrect. This should help us all.
I had uploaded a photo of a helicopter. Its can be seen on other Ais_site`s. The mmsi number is also on this site. Why is it then erased ???????
Please what answer : )
hey chan2, it got deleted since we thought it is not right attached. now back online, after your nice explanations. guess we have to start a new object:helicopter right after we finished the section for container:images :-)
Thanx fore the answer and explanations. Happy to start something new......... Best regards Chan2
I don't agree. This is a website for ships not for helicopters. That is the reason I deleted your picture. If we upload all cargo that goes on ships, I can start taking pictures off everything here at my house.
Here in Belgium there is one guy who has an AIS device in his car, so I can follow him on the road. Do I have to take also a picture of his car???
I have to agree with Stevo. Several months ago we had a simlar problem with shore stations, lighthouses and even a school if I rember corectly. The decision then was to delete them. I have no wish to see a picture of Stevo's friends car on DS
My thought is that this many helicopters is " SAR " search and rescue " often helps ships in distress. thats why it`s can bee i interesting even too see this. For ex all of Swe LIFEGUARD 901-907 is listed on this site. 4 of them was flying in some kind of help situation this date 2010.02.11 . DS recevied this signal...... This is my thought..... But Ok deleting
I would suggest to keep images of AIS targets, which are in the database. In future we might distinct between different tracking targets (my car already is listed here -whos going to find it:-).
For the case of the SAR copters, why do not just keep them in here, since they almost always work together with rescue vessels?
@stevo: should I change the topic? lars
I am totally against making this place the helicopter, although it is the motor of the SAR also involved in rescue by land along the coast have the AIS and are from the SAR, and therefore no need to upload the pictures, so should not make exceptions for anyone, this is my thought
Javier
@ Lars, we can find your car when you went spotting with German Spotters.
Maybe change topic and my first post because it's not relevant to this discussion.
My image of North Foreland Lighthouse was deleated it has both a MMSI and Imo No and has a page so I do not see why it should not remain for others visiting the page to see. I have therefore uploaded it again.
I refer you to MIndOpen's post one day ago where he stated that we should keep images of ais targets that are in the data base - Which this is
This is no vessel so stop uploading stupid images.
Lighthouse, helicopter, car, ...
what is next????
I was thinking a little and I'm realizing that this forum is missing something, that is to have good communication, and not as sharp in the things that are said, these people are rising up with the photos the "REASON" that are in the database and point, if you can not climb it should be removed from the database, and is already without trauma and saying good education, I have this take-over of traffic de Vigo SAR is http://www.fleetmon.com/images/thumbnails/45169.150x113.jpg and IMO this is the Name, MMSI MRSC VIGO, 2240998 and I think this very well to give information, and people to the central monitoring maritime .

i object to your tone,Stevo.Ido not think it is a stupid image.I feel that I have captured the Light house well.North Foreland Light has both an IMO and a MMSI No,also its own page inthe data base and as such is entitled to its image. As a picture editor,Stevo, you should be impartial and not let your own preferences or preducies affect your decisions.I refer you once again MindOpen's previous ruling where he states 'to keep images of AIS targets that are in the data base.
I will not upload the image at present but would ask MondOpen to rule on its validity.
@stevo: please calm down. there are more objects sending out AIS signals then only vessels. This is the reality.
We do have a platform here, where database entries are getting created, exclusively via received AIS signals. So it only would be a logical step to illustrate all objects, which we are listing in the database.
I think this is the effort of rob1053 and others and to be clear: I can perfectly live with that.
But it brings me to the idea of filtering special objects from standard views, for example to show only vessels, where vessels are expected. This takes some time and further thinking.
But if someone searches for a lighthouse, we could give a result + an image. It would be something good to achieve.
Please Stevo do not get bothered to much about this, there are only rare cases, we have recieved this kind of images.
Right here in Rostock there is a marine school which sends out an AIS signal and a member attached an image of the building to the entry:

I really like that kind of illustration, since it will extend my understanding.
Having read MindOpen's comments following the deleation of my image of North Foreland Light I have once again uploaded the image and added a comment as to the history of this light.I do feel it deserves its place on its detail page.I have nothing to gain from adding this image to the data base, but I have taken the time to capture the image in the hope that it will enhance the data base and give other users pleasure.

Worth thinking about what Mindopen says. A call it " Special Maritime Objects Photos ". Type Lighthouses ,SAR:s . Wheterbouys.
When you upload the photo why dont make a remark and it will go in to this special archive.
But a dont know am just a common user....chan2
Oke well understood your comments. Then I think I'm at the wrong place. I love ships and shipspotting and not images from houses or helicopters or cars who are sending AIS.
@stevo: You are at right place of course. Like I said, I just have to sort the stuff out, to clean up the display. We are talking about a relation of 99,9% (vessels) vice 0,1% (SMOPs) here.
It would be easier for me to, to praise principles and do not think further, but asking questions and find solutions is also fun. I do not see many discrepancies here, we will sort this out. I will start to only show vessels on the startpage...
@ Mindopen
I'm sorry the problems that you carry these items, I know you do not deserve, but you see it starts with a nonsense and is almost finished, with resignations, there are people who take it, with enthusiasm, and I think we should If so, I may I want to break a lance for MINDOPEN, which alone is trying to bring peace, and get beaten everywhere, is a true champion.
Lars, you still didn't change the topicname.
http://www.digital-seas.com/vessel_search/vessel_photo.html
Is vgries the photographer?
@stevo: when URLs or IDs are wrong, this is the default image.
Actually one of the first images uploaded by volker gries back in 2007.
Will write an explanation over there.
Never did change a topic title, so I have to look that one up.
@stevo: can't change topic easily, so will unstick and close this.
New one just opened :-)
