  2. I would be interested to meet people over in Antwerp or any other place. Does not have to be a large crowd and no commercial activities involved... :-)
Just hanging out and having some talks, beers and of course pictures.

  4. Good afternoon to all digital-seas.com members,

    Last week to join.
I have to give a list to company who is sailing with us.
If you like to join and to meet other members of digital-seas.com or shipspotting.com, you're still welcome to email me.
    We have now 25-30 participants.

Let's hope we can see a lot of nice ships on the river and in the Deurganckdock and some nice TallShips at Scheldeberths.

  12. People who like to see what's going on

    http://www.hzs.be/html_EN/webcam.html

The webcam is located at the roof terrace of the Antwerp Maritime Academy.
The geographical co-ordinates of the building are: 51° 14’ 27’’ N, 4° 23’ 55’’ E. The time zone is WET daylight saving time.

In the foreground you see the entrance to the Royers Lock. This is the oldest and also smallest sea lock connecting the river Scheldt with the port of Antwerp’s docks system.

The larger entrances (among which the Berendrecht Lock, the biggest sea lock in the world) are situated downstream.
Detailed information on the port of Antwerp can be found at www.portofantwerp.be.

In the background you see the right bank quays along the river Scheldt. Today, they are mainly used by visiting cruise and navy vessels and sight-seeing boats. The skyline of the town centre forms the horizon and you can see the peaks of the KBC-Boerentoren (a skyscraper built in the early 1920's) and more to the right, the Antwerp Cathedral (a 123 m high church of unique elegance built between 1352 and 1533).

  21. The thanks should be coming from us not from Stevo!
Stevo organised a great weekend for us all,he is a kind and generous host and made us all welcome in his country.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend on Saturday but so that I did not miss out on the expereience Stevo took the trouble to drive me all round Antwerp-to places only a local working in the shiping industry would know.
Stevo gave me a weekend to remember,I am indebted to him and look on him as a true friend.
I cannot, however finish without saying a heart felt thanks Ian and his wife with whom I spent a considerable time. All three of you made my weekend, after personal loss it was just the lift I needed.

    Kindest Regards

    Rob
