First of all, I LOVE your tracking display. Very clear, nice graphics :D
It's also very user friendly and such. :)
But it's a real pitty u don't/can't (?) monitor vessels entering, passing the Western Scheldt section towards Antwerp Port. Since this is also a very important port, i was really surprised it isn't covered on your site. For my job i use vesseltracking alot to know their ETA (so i know she'll arrive on my shift or not :ppp).
I use this one system which works fine, but it lacks oversight. no list of vessels, no zoom function (so all vessels are cramped up which makes some names unreadable). The only good thing about this site i use is that it covers the Western Scheldt area ( from entering Flushing Approach all the way down to Antwerp Port) and that it's real time. So i do have "some" idea about the ETA's but ofcourse only IF i could distinguish the vessel's name from others :p
So ur system is the bomb compared to the one i use (and AFAIK the system i use is the only one which covers what i need in realtime). Hopefully u can find a way to integrate this area?
Please reply :)
Hey Chainfire,
I have my AIS Antenne in Antwerp and I can receive all vessels in port.
I'm now talking with another company to buy a receiver and antenna. I think I can get then to Flushing.
Still finding out why I should share with this program. Hope you can give me good advice.
greetz Stevo
Sorry for replying late, I had a hard week...
I would like to know which system you are using, maybe we could exchange AIS data with them.
Thanks for the good words, we are strike hard, to have the best tracking system on the web, where realtime movements are really realtime!
There are lots of point plotters out there, but with all the efforts we put into the interface (the next version is on the horizon in november) we are experiencing the borderlines of virtually having thousends of vessels on your fingertips.
And keep in mind, it's spare time work and we are free, so this project lives from taking and giving. Stevo maybe the best reason to share with us. I will create a Netherland, Belgium page this night to reflect on this important shipping area. We just got Amsterdam and Harlingen, but still missing Rotterdam and Antwerp. Just to let you know, we will deliver the AIS equipment neccesary for any new station, able to send 24/7 to us. I would love to include more coverage of NL and BE. Cheers, Lars.
Hey MindOpen,
I'm using shipplotter and the reason I'm not sharing for the moment is that some other guys are using my data on their website without notice.
First I will try to start new server.
I send you an email some days ago with question of this program is for sale. The company who wants to start sharing would like to put this info on their website, only for their clients.
Ok, I replied in an email, let's discuss the details in private. Lars.
heya,
I gotta say, i didn't expect this interest in my proposal :)
I'm sure u guys can work something out. Good luck and hopefully i can look at Antwerp seatraffic on Digital Seas :D
take care!
Chainfire,
I'm still working on my AIS and coverage.
You can see what I receive on http://antwerpais.stevo.be
Hope in some weeks I can get new station in the air.
Yo Stevo,
I checked your site. I really like where it is going :) a very nice job indeed!
Keep it up :)
Hi Chainfire,
let me know, if we can be of any help with setting up antennas on the way to Antwerp. Stevo's site is indeed perfect for monitoring the Main port.
Have a good week, Lars.
hi MindOpen,
You should talk to Stevo about antennas and such. I just proposed an idea :D
Greetz
Yo guys,
any news?
we managed sharing with Stevo of the Antwerp port. We adjusted his ShipPlotter output to display shiptypes and directions in html also.
We openend our region: http://www.digital-seas.com/fleet_tracking/regions/north_sea_nlbl.html
North Sea Coast of NL and BL. This area is now on the way, we are hoping for Rotterdam being next.
Hey chainfire,
It's correct you can see my share on this website, but I can't cover 100%.
Should be nice if other people can also share.
friend of me is now talking with somebody in Flushing, I'm in contact with a company in Antwerp and if everything going well we have a better view.
This is a hobby and how more people can share, the more we see what's happening on the river.
Just to let you know we will install our second station in begin of january. For our thirt installation we are still waiting for your receiver you promissed to send but still not received. (http://blog.digital-seas.com/2008/10/29/busy-weeks-antwerp-amsterdam-now-covered/#comments)
Then we will have full coverage from port of Antwerp.
sorry, our third station
Stevo, I was off for a while... We complete lost our last send out of recievers (3 x SR 162). None of the packages reached there destination, probably related to DHL. Last week Navtec in Germany was able to deliver two new devices, which will go out now with UPS. One will be yours.
Please understand my waiting for clarification with the post, since every unit is almost a 500,- EUR value. Now I did my accounting for this year and decided to go further... :-)
Hey MindOpen, this is just great news.
Our second station will be in the air 3 week of january.
Then we will be back with sharing Antwerp (had again some probs with my computer)
MindOpen, do you have an idea when the receiver will be here??
Maybe you can forward the trackingnumber so I can check from here.
Not on the way yet. Will go out on the 5th of Jan when I will be back in Rostock (right now skiing in Geneva). Will use UPS this time and you'll get their tracking nr asap.
Great seeing you are online again. Happy new Year for You and the family!!
Hi,
I'm interested in AIS tracking around Zeebrugge. Do you know if there's any receiver installed in that region ? After looking all over the site, I only found a nice tracking around Antwerpen and a point for both the harbour of Zeebrugge and Gent but no any vessels in their neighbourhood...
Thanks for your answer.
Sanka.
BTW, a FAQ would be of great use ;) For the rest, very nice website.

Sanka/Stevo,
Don't know if you live around Zeebrugge??
Otherwise we can help you with install of an AIS receiver. Would be a big help for all shiploving users here on this website.
Our goal is anyway to start with an installation in Zeebrugge. We are now working on a second station in Antwerp and later in Terneuzen.
Hi Stevo,
I'm not living in Zeebrugge at all but I will look for someone living around.
I'll get back to you if I found someone.
Thanks anyway,
Sanka
