Is it also possible to include "my ships" and "my vessel list" in the new update?
Useful to see what ships I have already

for map updating try to set the "pinch to fetch" option in the preferences (bottom navigation "more" an then "preferences" on the top). Now the map refreshes if you change the location on the map.

we only own ipads for a couple of days now :-)
there will be a version in the future, even though we do not have a timeline yet.
Since apple does not like flash, we have a complete new development tree open here to support the platform.
the described bug has not been seen on the ipods without GPS anymore, but seems to resist on ipad still.
We will fix this in the next update coming in a week.
Regarding automatic updates. We've decided yet to don't do it automatically, because of volume and costs when on the road. But I could imagine a preferences setting to enable that on an individual basis. Maybe good idea :-)
We would be lucky if apple would not take away now even 40% of the sales price. We are just looking at this development with anger, because the return for all this development stays with apple almost in the same share....
thanks for your comments...

Hi guys,

I'm just trying to use fleetmon mobile on ipad (no GPS-version).

And - apart from the fact that it's yet apparently only working in iphone-mode, I love it.

There's just two problems:

- The map is not updating by itself. shouldn't it be updating without me having to press "reload" every time?

- "Location Error" - kCLErrorDOmain error
pops up everytime I come back to the map from the ship viewer

That's rather anoying. Is that a bug? I read about this bug further down in older postings but it still seems to be open, right?

Thanks for the great app. Great work! Thanks!

southy.

...and if you feel lucky sometimes, could you perhaps get an ipad-version ready?

@Allmanamini: the difference is the timeslot we are using in "Fleetmon :mobile" and "Fleetmon :web".
At the webpage we are showing even tracking signals up to 30mins old. Fleetmon :mobile will only show vessels tracked within the last 10mins on the map. So that makes some difference in crowded and fast passed lanes like the "Kadett Rinne". Karlskrona is missing an Antenna, would you like to set one up? Other site are not really of help, as long they are not sharing with us signals.

And I hope in the next update (not important) that you find a way to zoom in/out on the map with a searched vessel. I use this feature more then I suspected.

Hey stevo,

having unnecessary expenses always sucks, you're right.
Generally, we're pretty focused on having a smart app w/o wasting resources like memory and/or bandwidth. Sometimes it's really hard to decide between comfort & expenses. We'll see how to handle such a situation in one of the next releases.

Handling multitouch gestures in nested views is sometimes pain in the ass for an unexperienced programmer. :-) Expect that issue to be fixed soon. Meanwhile you could use a trick: Once you lost your ship on detail view's small map, simply step back (to list, spotter map, whatsoever) and call that detail view (for the same vessel) again. Map will be centered to vessel's position again. Note that this will work at no charge (no extra request will be fired).
A good idea, too: Use double tap with one or two fingers instead of scroll/pinch gestures.

Thanks,
M.
The new versions stores all user sessions in spotter, search or port tabs. So you can continue exactly at the same place/function, before you started that phone-call etc.
Thats a remarkable change to v1.1 and needed a lot of work in the background.

Tip: start the spotter tab and hit the “point”-button in the upper left corner to move the map into your actual position and reload the list of vessels.
Good evening admin. I was playing with Fleetmon mobile today. The only problem I have, is ....

From moment you open fleetmon, system starts refreshing and using data-traffic. If you last used it on another place, you get details you don't need. During refreshing you can't use any button.
Later you point to the place where you are and again you use some data-traffic. Double use of data-traffic. When I'm in another country, I have only 50 mb/month.

I think I found a bug. When you search a vessel and you go to detailpage, you can shift down for map. You can make map bigger, but you can't move map. Vessel is out of view then.

But this is a great update. Keep up the good work.

should be no problem, even to calculate the distance from your position to the vessel. Also, to copy the vessel position to the clip-board would give you the chance to paste that into your favourite mapping app (google maps for example) and let it find the best route for driving/walking :-)
Good to know, the next fleetmon mobile update will be build to store exact the last action, so closing the app and reopening will give you the last screen, position etc.

Today I used my iPhone in a port I don't know as good as my homeport.
I had to visit a vessel and I missed something on the fleetmon app.

I used search to see where the vessel was moored (map) but I missed the possibility to see my position in that same map. So I didn't know if I was far from the vessel or not. Is it maybe possible to include this also if you search a vessel who is less then 5 km from your position?? Maybe for the latest 3GS iphones the possibility to use GPS from your position to the ship??

We did a rebuild of the apps foundation, which is better prepared of the different platforms (iPad :-). Also adressed: persistance, more data views and better performance with large datasets.
We will release the update in the second week of Febr. Thanks for the patience.

please describe upper part of Thames... Le Havre has been gone since two weeks. Anyway, every improvement of the coverage has to be done by setting up Antennas in the area or via sharing of exisiting signals. We are really much support and appreciate people, making this possible.

Sorry my fault, the whole message is;
Location Error!
Operation could not be completed
(kCLErrorDomain error 0.)
