Gravatar.com is the easiest way to also get your user-icon into Blog and Forum of DS.
Create an account over there by using the same email adress and everywhere on the web you posts will be visible with your icon. Since many blogs and forum softwares are reading the gravatar icon too.
Not sure, why our internal system for user Imagea is broken, have to check this.

Like I said: use www.gravatar.com
we will use automatically your avatar image from there.

@amarmary: any extra info about the vessel belongs into the VesselDetail-page.
Descriptions for a certain image are fine, but we don't do the ship-spotting.com way, where every image holds all vessel related info, since this will produce redundancy in a long term and makes it quiet hard, to keep infos up to date.
So if there are any extras known, just type it into the Wiki-field....

Welcome amarmary, nice to have another seafearer on board.

Thanks for the info in tug types. Right now we are only sorting in AIS vessel types, but we are working on a more detailed system already. There is a free text field called WIKI on every vessel page, which could be used to give further details to the ship. So log into the site, change to a vessel-detail-page and type something into the wiki area. then hit save and your infos will be available to all users.

We will try to collect those infos into a standardized vessel data table later on.

Hello MindOpen,
I'm a new user and a tugmaster in profesion. Tugs are sorted by uses: harbour tug, escort tug, supply tug, etc'; by propulsion system: voith, azimuth, kort nozzle etc' and by configuration: propulsion forward and towing point aft (tractor tug), propulsion aft and towing point forward (reverse tug).In general it may be distinguished as conventional tugs and tractor tugs. In my opinion such details will be very useful if attached to tug's description. If I can find it in site, please instruct me how. Thank you.

@Rob: like always..., comparing results creates new questions. This will add to evolve things for the better and I'll always welcome ideas. In the case of the port Favs, this will be no big problem, just a matter of designing it into the interface :-)
Hang on for it, it is a good idea anyway.

Lars,Felix,
This would be a realy great idea.I use Ports when I am going to visit an area.It is quite time consuming to go Ports>Europe>United Kingdom and then scroll through the list.A 'My Ports' of say 10 favourite ports would be useful.I know that you have made some terrific changes to the site lately (not sure about the mute coloured backgrounds on the search box but miles better than the brightly colured words inthe first attempt-I thaught I was on ebay) so perhaps you could squeze just one more little one in please.....after all what else would you do in your tea break :-)

regards
Rob
P.S.Have a look at my AIS stats I am hitting the stops .The enhanced signal on shipplotter is showing distances to genuine vessels in excess of 200 nm

Yep, that really would be nice, to have data in JSON format available, preferable from Loyds or any other sources.
In reality not one single source is freely available. This sounds like a good project work, we could do for you, please get in direct contact with us via the Contact Page: http://www.digital-seas.com/about/contact.html
or by mail.

Actually, it would be great to get data from Detailpage of vessel in XML or JSON formatted data. I mean: Vessel Related Infos, Voyage Related Infos and link to vessel image.
