@Rob: thanks for the remarks, will replay they first (sounds like a script error), the second should be a good thing to have. I will adress this to Markus for programming, since I am off to my summer holidays... :-)

@admin
There is a small problem with Live reports.
Say I want to make a report on vessel A.I go to the detail page,select Port Report from the drop down menu,type my report and send-No problem! I then go to make the same report for vessel B,I go to the detail page but this time select my previous message and send-Problem it will not send! Could you have a look at this for me.

One other last little request(I know they are never little! :-) ) Would it be posible to put in a system where I could hover over the moving display to stop it so that I can note down a request.At the moment the only way I have found is to quickly click on the vessel name which opens the detail page and then read the message.

@Lars
the idea of standard messages is a good idea
Short standard messages make the moving display easier to read.
I have been playing with it since it started in I have come round to this format :-

dd.mm hh:mm UTC Now (location) to (destination) due dd.mm hh.mm UTC

The system generates the vessel name so no need to put that in!

Example for the vessel Leander

27.06 08:00 UTC Now Margate Roads to Vopak London 1 due 28.06 14:00 UTC

This is quick,simple and gives all the relevent info-if you do not know the destination you simply put unknown and leave the due info off.

Do you think we should start a forum topic titled,say, STANDARD MESSAGE FORMATS and Tag it

Also what are your thaughts on the extranious messages such as :- where ship? or I sailed on this boat and similar.
They are not Live Reports.If you are happy to have location requests then,maybe, we should have a standard message format for them.

Regards
Rob

@Rob: do not care about the size of the messages, there is plenty of space.
We have to monitor this function for a while, to leran how people will make use of it. It is something like the twitter for spotters or SMS for vessels.
We think of alll kind of extensions, but first we have to have experiences... :-)

Since we do not know about the position of the reproting person and the relevant timeframe, UTC time would be perfect. It gives a good start to decide about the value of actuality to show it to people from all over the world.

We should start a list of examples for standard messages, to give users hints for posting?

@Lars
Have read through your reply.I have no problem in entering reports I was just a little concerned for the size my 'My Live Reports'file will grow to.Currently 17 reports.
I note that reports remain on the live reports 'ticker tape' for just over a day and then disappear however they remain on' My Live Reports 'page and it is here that I find that the delete button does not work.
With regard to my no longer valid report comment I made consider the fillowing scenario
At 22:20 I report Vessel X in Margate Roads
At 23:00 I add a further report that the pilot has boarded and the vessel has departed.

The 22:00 Report is no longer valid or has any meaning as the vellel is nolonger in margate Roads but is underway

@Rob: it is not our intention for the reports to get deleted only because they are outdated. The system is rather ment as a place for the quick and dirty placement of reports. We will later on have a system to reflect actuality a bit more depending on the amount of use.
Your idea of easing the input of messages is good and should be added (but it is more work than just having an edit - button :-). For now I would suggest to have an textfile open, where you keep the most common messages for quick copies.

The system also is a test scenario for our automatically created (still to be translated into english) zone alerts. At the vessels detailpage we will mix user and system messages for faster checking. The more zones we create in ports the more detailed this messages will be. In the future we will create all journey related reports with the system.

I would like to ask all members, what Ideas for standard reports are of interest ?

@admin.Have a problom with the new Live Reports system.I have two reports fo Eli Knutsen that are no longer valid as I have posted an update.
When I click on delete in My Live Reports no delete occurs,I have tried refreshing and logging in and out to no avail,please investigate.
Could you,also.consider an edit button that the poster could use to save retyping a whole report when only an update is required(as is provided on the forum page) as this would save typing.
It is my intention to issue reports of vessels anchored in Margate Roads that appear on the ais data that I upload and to obtain where possible port arival times and/or pilot details (when I hear them ) and final movement from anchorage. I need to be able to delete and woukd like to update or My Live Reports page will be overwelmed with out of date reports.

Regards

Ian has good idea there.
In the case of Yantlet I suspect that the Imo no of 1 was generated by the ship ais system,I believe I can recall seeing 1 in the IMO field on the AIS info at the time, its the old rubbish in rubbish out senario.
I know data is frequently incorrectly entered as you often hear Dover Coastguard querying a name,IMO No or status with comercial vessels.

By entering any random number in the IMO field can only store up problems for the future. May I suggest that the field can be made to accept ‘NOT KNOWN’ and only this is used. If this is not possible then ‘0000000’ should be entered.

@Rob: but you know, that you can always upload any vessel image first with the ImageManager and then attach it later on to the right vessel-corpus (searching for IMO, MMSI or callsign) ?
Are you trying the TinyImageUploader only? There are quiet some vessels in the DB wiht IMO=1, the tinyuploader still has a problem with those entries.
Go to http://www.digital-seas.com/open_space/my_digital_seas/my_images.html , upload your image (green button = add image) and I could help to attach it right....

@admin
Vessel Name: YANTLET
MMSI No:232004583 (Confirmed in the field by my mobile AIS)
Nature of problem:
The vessel is a ligitimate target,it is a work vessel managed by The Port of London Authority.
When you open its page it appears to have an IMO No 1
It also appears to have had 30 previous identities

When I attempt to upload an image the image upoader will allow me to select an image and the save button goes green however it then tells me that a vessel with the name YANTLET and an IMO No 1 does not exist. If I then delete the IMO No1 the uploader allows me to select an image but the save button does not go green.

I realise that the Vessel Detail page is generated automaticaly but there appears to be an error somewhere that is blocking the image upload.
Could you investigate the problem so that I can give the vessel a 'face'

Regards
Rob(rob1053)

We are aware of the Problems in the Port section, which will be fixed in an hour.
Still have to evaluate other described sections. The security issue is new although. Browserlab (adobe) gives a complete platform test, will run this today.
Hang on and thanks for telling us...
