@miraflores: when we created the thumbs up function, we thought it would be a good idea to keep somehow the votes, done until now. They have been stored in a separate table related to imageIDs. So we accounted already made positive votes to a new thumb for uploaded images.
I have only a vage idea, why newly uploaded images appear thumbed. Must have to do with our unique image id, which is created after analyzing the upload. Now your image appears the second time and gets the "old" votes" attached.
There has been a short time in early 2008, where voting for own images was possible. maybe thats the reason you appear also in "fans". Are you able to reset the thumbs?

To be independend of AIS messages for the future, we have to create a separate data layer for the vessel. To edit this layer could also be possible for the user (nickname is a good example).
We are indeed working on this now for quiet a while and it si not only to extension of the database we need to program, it is also the change from old to new entries, which has to be thought of (right now 101.000 entries).
I will prove the described cases, since these are good points to debug for us.
Thanks to all for posting these issues.

OK. Can Digital Seas not then allow us to give the ship a "nickname" in the caption, where we can "tag" our own images with the real ship's name ? That would solve the problem - but give us all a bit of typing to do.

@dyvroeth The 'Vessel Related Infos' and the 'Voyage Related Infos' are sent by the ships onboard computer. The problems you have found are not only confined to British warships, but other naval vessels as well. Some merchant ships are just as bad.

I have an image of HMS Roebuck, a Royal Navy survey vessel, pennant no H130. It has been quite happy on Digital Seas for a few months, but now it has been renamed by someone to RN TEST.

I can't see a way of reallocating a ship name to my image, and HMS Roebuck is no longer found in the "Search Ships".

Can anyone tell me what's going on, please ? Thanks,

Hi, google earth will stop responding 9 out of 10 times when I turn on globa.kml, I have to wait about 1 min for it to work ( not a problem ) but google earth then runs slow then sometimes stops responding, coumputer is only 3 months old, as for memory it has got 4.00 gb of ram quad core cpu 2.34ghz & 580gb on the hard drive so it should be ok to run this program, when it works I cannot fault it apart from this bug it is very good.
Paul.

The distance from Ashdod to Limassol is abt. 200 nm, at a speed of 17 kn the ship could have arrived early this morning and is now on the way to Beirut.

I could call our friends, which deliver the AIS stream right from Limmasol. Could it be possible you are probably talking about another ship ? Although the FRANCOP has been tracked in Beirut before, they could have moved the AIS transceiver only :-)
