I have contacted Fictillius who has my AIS server in his office. He sent me the following email

Working now. Software claimed expiry but closed and opened again and okay. I have contacted Lars regarding this as our Sydney Server is a join effort from me (woosang) Fictillius and Orangetim. All three of us work together to keep out little AIS running.
AT this stage it is working. If we go off line again I will email Evan again about it.

There has been reports from people here regarding Fleetmon not working so maybe its an issue between the server and the mobile app???

I am looking into putting another servers further south to get Botany bay..

@melzie: the simplest answer is probably: because we do not have an antenna over there. I haven't been aware of a direct signal from Melbourne before. So if you know of any stream or source we could make use of, please let me know.

@woosang: the Sydney stream is off since last Tuesday, I wrote an email to the member we are getting the signal from, without answer yet. Are you able to send a stream to our server?

@Stevo,
you are not correct. The IMO of a shipü will never change, the MMSI always changes with the flag. The first 3 numbers show you the country.

http://www.gmdss.com.au/mids.htm

For example:
Germany starts with 211 and 218
Denmark starts with 219 and 220
Belgium starts with 205
etc.

Of all that is being written in this forum, which by the way I always visit, and if something is shared, ideas are understood, what I like most is what was written by Lars, is that they update the database, is great news, because if so I will rise stomatal many ships to my page.
0000000 VESSEL TYPE CONTAINER SHIP HULL TYPE SINGLE HULL
SUMMER 6362 tons GROSS TONNAGE 7223 DWT tons BUILD 1996

yep, that is theory so far. in reality you are confronted with misstyped numbers,
missing numbers and changing numbers.
depending on the accuracy of technicians and crew members and the timeslot they adopt to changes, you will recieve all kinds of stati for AIS signals.

Most common, and in your case, is simply the change of ownership. In the search list, we will show all appearences of this particular vessel-body, so people are able to compare.
the images are the only "real" clue to connect history data, since there is only a theoretical "live time" IMO. We do reflect this by showing all connected images on the detail page.
for instance the Brovig Mistral is now LS Anne and only Ians image is connecting this history info, because more then three paras in the AIS signal changed.
http://www.digital-seas.com/vessel_search/vessel_details/on/zdhk9_brovig_mistral_q29767.html
http://www.digital-seas.com/vessel_search/vessel_details/on/ls%20anne_q47376.html

We developed many algorythms to cope with the situation. If more then three parameters change over time (MMSI, IMO, NAME, LENGTH for expl.), we will create a new body.
As long as we only rely on AIS signals to fill up the database thats a good way.

This year we will extend the database with static vessel data from other references and will allow user corrections.

You can trust the database, but sometimes you have to look around a bit, there are probably chances to improve the views...

When I search with imo 9311385, I receive 2 vessels Sepen - Brovig Mistral
When I search with imo 9421623, I receive 2 vessels Vedrey Heimer - Albertus F
When I search with mmsi 236331000, I receive 2 vessels Vedrey Heimer - Brovig Mistral

I was told that imo and mssi never change from a vessel and you can never have 2 times the same number. Only name and flag can change.

I think that a lot of excess matter is been uploaded with regard to information about vessels, some of the information is a repeat of what is already shown e.g. IMO number, and other although it may be correct at the time of uploading it may soon become incorrect e.g. Class Society, Owner, Manager etc.
This information can be obtained from other sites e.g. http://www.equasis.org and has a much greater chance of been correct and up to date.

Last Ship-Wiki edits, and this is very good, there's only one catch, a Member, you used to give the position of ships, but I believe that these data are confusing, because the ship is not always in the same place, and I believe this brought confusion, not my approach is correct

@ Mindopen
I'm sorry the problems that you carry these items, I know you do not deserve, but you see it starts with a nonsense and is almost finished, with resignations, there are people who take it, with enthusiasm, and I think we should If so, I may I want to break a lance for MINDOPEN, which alone is trying to bring peace, and get beaten everywhere, is a true champion.

@stevo: You are at right place of course. Like I said, I just have to sort the stuff out, to clean up the display. We are talking about a relation of 99,9% (vessels) vice 0,1% (SMOPs) here.
It would be easier for me to, to praise principles and do not think further, but asking questions and find solutions is also fun. I do not see many discrepancies here, we will sort this out. I will start to only show vessels on the startpage...

Oke well understood your comments. Then I think I'm at the wrong place. I love ships and shipspotting and not images from houses or helicopters or cars who are sending AIS.

The few times that I have clicked on to the Chat page no one seems to be there. Am I doing something wrong or is it not been used very much?
@ MindOpen You were talking about a 'private mail system' is this still your intention and if so when do you expect it to be in place? I for one would welcome such a facility.
